So, this is a bit of a cross-post, but I thought I'd check here to see if anyone in the community has a resource or thoughts on this matter. I posted this same question in the cphalcon issue tracker here: https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/issues/6785
Bottom line: some sysadmins I'm working with are wondering why there's a PPA for installing Phalcon on Ubuntu systems, but there is not a yum repo for installing on Red Hat flavors of Linux. They are configured to quickly spin up CentOS boxes via puppetlabs configs, so they really want to go that route.
There is no skill problem compiling from source, or even building an RPM. They could do those things. But when you're dealing with an enterprise IT dept, with pre-configured puppets and many servers to manage, it's pretty reasonable for them to want to make things easy for installs and upgrades down the line.
So...Does anyone know if a yum repo exists anywhere that is maintained, or how we might convince the Phalcon team to host one? I'd be a willing sponsor for such a thing if it means we can start using Phalcon for these enterprise projects.
